Der wichtigste Forschungsgegenstand wird in dieser Arbeit die Rolle des Wählers sein. Wie groß waren seine Möglichkeiten der politischen Partizipation? Wie lässt sich anhand des Commentariolum die Rolle des Volkes deuten? conflict es eher manipulierbare Masse oder Souverän? In welchem Verhältnis standen die Schicht der Oligarchie und die Volksmasse zueinander? Die Klärung dieser Fragen ist notwendig, um das Commentariolum zu verstehen. Das Commentariolum soll somit auf seine für meine Fragestellung signifikanten Aspekte hin untersucht werden, jedoch erst nachdem ein Einblick in das Machtgefüge Roms erfolgt ist. Im Anschluss an die examine der Quelle sollen ein paar weitere Aspekte des Wahlkampfs aus der Sekundärliteratur beleuchtet werden.

Ziel dieser Hausarbeit soll die Beschreibung und examine eines bestimmten Falls von Stasis sein, nämlich der Vorgänge des Jahres 487 v. Chr. auf der Insel Aigina, ohne dabei die Strukturen von aiginetischer Wirtschaft, Gesellschaft und Politik zu vernachlässigen. Die außenpolitischen Beziehungen zum Nachbarn Athen dürfen ebenfalls nicht außer Acht gelassen werden. Der eigentliche Ablauf der Stasis dagegen soll lediglich kurz geschildert werden. Dies ergibt sich bereits aus der nur dünnen Quellenlage. Viele Angaben über Aigina lassen sich nur aus Quellen über Auseinandersetzungen zwischen der Insel und Athen herausfinden. Lediglich Herodot beschreibt unmittelbar die Stasis auf Aigina, wobei sein Werk „Historien“ jedoch erst deutlich nach den Vorfällen auf Aigina verfasst wurde. Herodot warfare keineswegs Augenzeuge, sondern hat vielmehr eine new release später mündliche Überlieferungen festgehalten. Nicht ganz unerheblich ist dabei die Terminologie des Herodot, der die Stasis auf Aigina den ideologischen Auseinandersetzungen seiner Zeit (Oligarchie vs. Demokratie) entsprechend verfasst zu haben scheint.
